Abstract

This IDC Innovators report examines the offerings of five technology vendors supporting and enhancing food traceability, from farm to fork. Driven by consumer demand for safety, transparency, and sustainability as well as reinforced by global regulations, the food and beverage industry is rapidly pivoting toward technological solutions that ensure complete visibility along the entire food value chain. The increased emphasis in the industry on these solutions is intended to foster consumer trust, ensure compliance, and provide end-to-end traceability.

"Enhancing transparency and achieving full supply chain visibility is increasingly important for all stakeholders in the food value chain, from producers to distributors and end customers. Adopting technologies that ensure product authenticity, help meet regulatory requirements, and increase operational efficiency will be crucial in meeting consumer needs and preferences in a rapidly evolving landscape," said Federico Mayr, senior research analyst, IDC Health Insights.

"Leveraging technology to enhance transparency in food value chains is a relatively new endeavor for companies. Technology providers offering traceability solutions can enable data-driven decisions to drive operational efficiency, food safety, and waste reduction," said Mark Casidsid, senior research analyst, IDC Manufacturing Insights.
