This IDC study provides worldwide and regional forecast data for server OS new shipments and subscriptions by OS platform from 2023 to 2028. It provides breakdowns by physical and virtualized shipment types. It also provides a revenue forecast for paid server OSs by platform.
"The market is poised to rebound after a challenging year in 2023," said Greg Macatee, research manager, Infrastructure Software Platforms group at IDC. "Buyers are ready to resume purchasing the servers that underpin the server OS market while moving and creating new workloads in the cloud. AI should also be a boon for growth, particularly for commercial suppliers."
