Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation focuses on the drivers and focus for retailers when it comes to operationalizing sustainability in the supply chain.

Operationalizing sustainability depends on many factors, including the ability to see and respond to changes in time for those actions to be fruitful and mitigate additional costs or lost opportunity. Retailers that have insight into the end-to-end supply chain, meaning all tiers of supply, including to the raw material sources such as farms, fields, and ocean harvesters, are best equipped for resilience. They also have the open lines to request and receive Scope 3 data for sustainability reporting. This data has value beyond meeting compliance. Over time, the volume of data can be used by organizations and ecosystems to better understand a wide range of attributes about products and their supply chains.
