Abstract
This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation leverages IDC research to demonstrate the value of AI and the risks associated with data and provides actionable advice to make the case for enabling data governance for generative AI (GenAI). The urgency that has been created by generative AI is real, and there are real examples of where AI is adding real value for organizations, but there is still a lot of risk associated with the use of internal data with external models.
"AI governance starts with data governance," says Stewart Bond, vice president of Data Intelligence and Integration research at IDC. "The biggest concerns and barriers organizations are facing in generative AI are focused on privacy, compliance, and reputation, which can all be traced back to how internal data is being used with external models. Harvesting intelligence about data and models can provide the means necessary to enable data and AI governance in the use of generative AI."
