Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight looks at enterprise spending on AI infrastructure. In detail:
- Spending on AI infrastructure to support generative AI workloads has replaced security as the most important IT budget allocation priority. Approximately 35% of respondents indicated developing a strong business case for AI infrastructure spending as the top priority, followed by 34% for cyber-resilience and security and 24% to modernize storage and data management.
- AI driven by the adoption of GenAI has a vital role in revolutionizing the way IT infrastructure will be designed, deployed, and operated. Enterprises have to make decisions on whether AI workloads will be hosted on premises or in colocation datacenters, depending on whether they will use AI model functions such as ingestion, training, and inference.
- Respondents also indicated increasing cyber-resilience and security as their second-highest priority, as protecting critical infrastructure is important for business continuity.
- Data consumption continues to grow exponentially, and to manage costs and efficiency in a hybrid cloud and multicloud ecosystem, enterprises have to modernize their legacy systems and adopt advanced storage and data management solutions that are scalable for future growth.
