Abstract

This IDC Survey presents the results of multiple waves of IDC's 2023 global Future of Enterprise Resiliency and Spending (FERS) Survey. All contained results highlight pressing requirements, connectivity plans, and expected gains relating to the use of advanced network management systems and services, particularly network observability and automation. In assembling the selected slide content, the final six waves of FERS 2023 results — Waves 6 through 11 — were processed. While the results offered in these slides mostly represent the worldwide response totals, more granular views (e.g., country, company size, vertical industry, digital business maturity) are available to IDC clients upon request.

"In the hyper-connected digital business model, the network functions as a vital foundational component of the technology infrastructure. Everything is connected. And every connection is critical. As a result, IT plans and movements have an impact on how the network is engineered, operated, and enhanced. Organizations that build out their computing infrastructure, security posture, and application portfolio without strong consideration of the underlying network — and the team that supports networking — does so at their own peril. These results point out key IT priorities and practices that should drive thoughtful use and evolution of the network and networked resources." — Mark Leary, research director, Network Observability and Automation, IDC
