Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the current state of how product manufacturers are migrating product development and engineering applications to cloud-based/SaaS deployments. These SaaS-oriented manufacturers describe the current and future state of 18 different PLM/CAD/CAM/CAE components, showing which elements are currently deployed and/or planned to be deployed in a SaaS environment. Data reveals where SaaS migration is strongest, and which elements of PLM are best positioned for growth within a cloud-based model.
The data in this IDC Survey Spotlight is part of the broader 2024 IDC's SaaSPath Survey, which asked a wide range of questions about moving PLM/CAD solutions to SaaS. Those survey results include information about cloud-based PLM vendors and professional services (usage, satisfaction, and challenges), PLM deployment models (public cloud, private cloud, hybrid, and on premises), and customer expectations versus vendor ratings (including spending patterns and plans).
