Abstract

This IDC Survey provides selected findings from IDC's 2024 Worldwide Digital Infrastructure Sentiment Survey with results segmented based on decision-maker persona. This survey of 1,129 respondents in North America, Latin America, Asia/Pacific, and Europe was conducted in June 2024 while IT leaders were grappling with how best to support the infrastructure needs of emerging GenAI use cases and making longer-term strategic decisions about infrastructure funding, architecture, and operating models.

A deep dive into persona-based perspectives of digital infrastructure investments and challenges shows operational staff, skills, and automation are top concerns across business, IT, development, and data science personas. Business leaders are particularly worried that lack of automation and up-to-date operational skills will hamper the organization's ability to keep up with the infrastructure demands of emerging digital business and AI initiatives.
