Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight answers the following question: In a multicloud world, which cloud service provider (SPs) do ISVs consider most important? ISVs' decision to transition from licensed software to SaaS involves choosing which cloud service provider is most important to an ISV's future success. IDC's 2023 CloudShare Survey shows that 24.6% of SaaS providers deploy applications across two or more public clouds and 17.2% exclusively deploy applications on one public cloud. Regardless of the number of cloud service providers used, ISVs choose a single provider to serve as the most important or primary cloud service provider. AWS is considered the primary cloud SP for 31.5% of ISVs, 23.6% of ISVs choose Azure, and 13.7% consider Google Cloud the primary cloud SP. The findings are consistent across regions. However, SaaS providers with $10 billion or more in ARR favor Azure (32%) compared with AWS (24%) and Google Cloud (20%).
