Abstract
This IDC study quantifies the U.S. printer and MFP page volume market opportunity. It provides an in-depth look at the U.S. installed base and page volume forecasts for the inkjet and laser MFP segments as well as the total page volumes for these segments. The installed base, average monthly page volumes, and total annual page volumes are forecast for 2024–2027, while actual history is provided for 2017–2023. This study includes both office and production pages.
"We expect page volume to decline modestly in 2023 and 2024, its decline softened by the return to the office, as workers print more in the office than when working from home. However, steeper declines are expected to resume in 2025 and beyond as the adoption of paperless processes continues to exert downward pressure on print volume. Still, printing remains a critical part of the work process, and the combined printer/MFP market remains massive, as it is still expected to generate more than 900 billion pages of output annually through 2027." — Geoffrey Wilbur, research manager, Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions at IDC
