This IDC study highlights the evolving web conferencing market, emphasizing the integration of AI to enhance human connectedness, collaboration, and multimodality in the workplace. IDC predicts a moderate growth in the market, driven by AI features and the expansion to a broader workforce, including frontline workers. This study also provides guidance to technology suppliers on how to adapt to the new digital economy and the emerging elements of a collaborative culture that powers collaborative, AI, and multimodal content — as well as the headwinds that companies are facing. This also looks to the major changes that will enhance revenue growth in the conferencing market, including those that will affect the content and interfaces of conferencing.
“Conferencing has used AI for better lighting, audio, translations, and transcriptions. Conferencing platforms are evolving to become even more interesting, visual, and engaging, all to drive better collaboration and outcomes,” according to Wayne Kurtzman, research vice president for Social, Community, and Collaboration Applications at IDC. “Over the next five years, we will start to move from ‘people in boxes–style conferencing’ to more engaging formats, helping better measure outcomes.
