Abstract
This IDC Market Perspective examines the importance of addressing the visibility and observability challenges, which is vital to 5G monetization. Comms SPs are challenged with increasingly complex network architectures, and the complexity will continue to grow as these operators begin to deploy 5G standalone (SA) core elements. Comms SPs will need to ensure end-to-end visibility across core, transport, and access network elements in order to deliver and guarantee specific network service requirements needed to fully monetize their investments in 5G.
"Comms SPs require a comprehensive approach to network management and operations that can support hybrid physical/virtual networks that will characterize their networks for the next few years," says John Byrne, research VP, Communications SP Operations and Monetization at IDC. "Packets will remain the lifeblood of the network and the key to ensuring end-to-end network visibility across multiple network architectures."
