Abstract
This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation discusses the IDC Future of Digital Infrastructure (FoDI) Scorecard for 2023. Digital infrastructure encompasses interconnected compute, storage, network, and management resources deployed across datacenters, colocation and hosting facilities, edge locations, and public cloud platforms and services. Without secure, agile, and scalable digital infrastructure to connect customers, employees, and partners to mission-critical data and applications, successful digital business is impossible. Yet many organizations struggle with tech debt, inefficient operating models, and a lack of alignment between infrastructure and cloud spending and business results.
The IDC Future of Digital Infrastructure (FoDI) Scorecard shows how organizations that lead in the design, operation, and governance of digital infrastructure also lead in delivering higher levels of digital business outcome improvements. Based on a June 2023 worldwide survey of 876 digital infrastructure decision makers, the Scorecard pinpoints specific technology strategies, operating model enhancements, and governance processes that can help tech buyers deliver maximum business value from infrastructure and cloud investments.
"Our research shows that 77% of organizations worldwide agree digital infrastructure is important or mission critical to enabling the achievement of business goals over the next two years, explains Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, IDC's Future of Digital Infrastructure. "IDC's Future of Digital Infrastructure Scorecard shows that organizations that invest in state-of-the-art digital infrastructure technologies and operating model best practices can achieve more than 2x annual improvement of top priority business outcomes when compared with organizations with less sophisticated environments."
