Abstract

This IDC Perspective provides IT buyers with a framework for evaluating and optimizing engagements with digital infrastructure ecosystem partners. Digital infrastructure and public cloud ecosystem partners provide critical technical design, implementation, and operational services that enable many IT buyers to fully execute on mission-critical infrastructure modernization, migration, and innovation priorities. Digital infrastructure provides the core data management, connectivity, and analytic capabilities needed by every digital business. Yet delivery of these capabilities becomes more and more complex each day. For many IT buyers, the gap is increasing between in-house skills and the availability of expertise needed for today's modern environments. Ecosystem partners offer customers access to proven, tested best practices for the design, deployment, and operation of many digital infrastructure platforms and services. Partners proactively invest in automation, integration skills, vendor certifications, and training and product/service enablement innovations.

"Given the rate and pace of innovation spreading across many digital infrastructure ecosystems, it will be important for IT buyers to consciously review and consider modernizing partner engagement models in 2023," explains Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, IDC's Future of Digital Infrastructure.
