Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation provides CIOs with strategy and advice to gain more value from their enterprise architecture. Technology leaders will gain a deeper understanding of frameworks to plan more strategic and flexible architecture, use it effectively in a digital platform, and update processes to focus on both business and technology outcomes.

Architecture goals have shifted from the traditional enabling of infrastructure and managing cost and complexity to the achievement of digital transformation initiatives. Strategic architecture planning can be used to categorize, prioritize, sequence, and evaluate use cases to achieve strategic business priorities and greater value. Technology platforms must meet today's needs yet be flexible enough to meet ever-changing situations and scale sustainably. CIOs will learn ways to reinvent and reshape strategic architecture for adaptability, flexibility, and risk as well as prepare to extend DevOps to BizOps and BizDevOps.

"Creating architecture by itself provides no value to the enterprise. Value is only realized when architecture is used to influence decisions," says Mike Rosen, adjunct research advisor with IDC's research network. "Delivering structured and fact-based information and insight to stakeholders and providing decision makers with a compelling value proposition allow architects to turn that insight into enterprise value, influence, and impact."
