Abstract
This IDC study evaluates worldwide digital adoption platform (DAP) vendors along a set of strategic and capabilities-based criteria to help tech buyers arrive on choosing a DAP provider that fits their organization. Faced by growing IT skills shortages and growing software stacks, enterprise and business leaders have their work cut out for them. Not only must they continuously ensure that employees are up to speed on the latest technologies, but they also need to track and improve how users adopt, use, and experience applications on which the business relies. To address such challenges, digital adoption platforms have emerged as powerful tools. They offer contextual on-screen guides to help employees learn while in the flow of work, speeding time to mastery. Even more important, they incorporate analytics to optimize software use and help enterprises calculate application returns on investment.
"With advanced analytics, cross-application functionality, and context-sensitive on-screen tips and guidance, DAPs help enterprises maximize the value and benefits of their software investments," says Gina Smith, PhD, research director, IT Skills for Digital Business practice at IDC. "When thoughtfully implemented, they can lead to faster training results and higher returns on software investment overall."
