Abstract
This IDC Perspective examines development languages, frameworks, and software development kits that specialize in quantum computing. In addition, this document provides technology buyers with insight about how to prepare their organization for the rapid maturation of quantum computing and the availability of fault-tolerant quantum computers.
"Even though the landscape of quantum computing developer tools is highly fragmented and heterogenous, organizations would do well to begin preparing for the maturation and forthcoming availability of commercial quantum computing at scale," said Arnal Dayaratna, research vice president of Software Development at IDC. "To prepare for commercial-grade quantum computing, organizations would do well to become familiar with existing quantum computing languages, frameworks, and software development kits and develop a quantum computing strategy that specifies goals their organization intends to achieve by means of quantum computers. In addition, organizations should consider creating a quantum center of excellence that is dedicated to educating their organization about business and technical considerations associated with the use of quantum computing."
