Abstract
This IDC study analyzes software providers in the market today that support global trade processes in compliance, logistics, and visibility. Global trade is fragmented, and global trade management (GTM) software aims to rein in, unify, and automate its processes to enable organizations to speed product to market while minimizing the risk of slowed, halted, or confiscated merchandise, as well as fines.
"Accelerated globalization combined with greater political volatility, increased scrutiny of supply chain practices, and rising expectations from customers and consumers is leading to the expansion and evolution of GTM capabilities by technology vendors and broader adoption of these applications by enterprises that import and export across borders," said Jordan K. Speer, research manager, Global Supply Chain at IDC. "In this IDC MarketScape, we see a group of very strong vendors offering a wide array of capabilities to make cross-border shipping more quick and efficient. But it doesn't stop there. GTM is not just about avoiding hassle. Vendors are helping clients build competitive advantage into supply chains by enabling earlier, intelligent decision making as well as reducing costs through better use of free trade agreements, duty deferral programs, and other offerings."
