Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation is part of IDC's Future Enterprise Planning Guide series. Each module delivers key overviews, targeted advice, and peer insights to guide users through key parts of the digital transformation (DX) process.

Investments in analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) will change how people interact with the digitized world around them and change entire processes and whole ecosystems. Artificial intelligence software platforms provide the functionality to analyze, organize, access, and provide advisory services based on a range of structured and unstructured information. These platforms facilitate the development or automation of intelligent, advisory, and AI-enabled applications, including intelligent assistants that may mimic human cognitive abilities.

Only 25% of enterprises have a solid AI strategy, with the cost of the solution, lack of skills, and flaws in data holding them back. Yet artificial intelligence will be the key technology propelling organizations through digital transformation. All the data that comes from DX initiatives has limited value without the right technology that empowers organizations to extract valuable, accurate, and timely insights.

Learn about innovators, key barriers in the major classes of AI, and gain a pragmatic framework that will allow realistic applications of AI technologies, and when buy versus build makes the most sense. IDC has created an AI-based automation evolution framework that evaluates the interaction of humans and machines across five levels.

This knowledge will help control costs and reduce resistance among your workforce and customer base. The COVID-19 crisis has revealed urgent need for the ability to better support a geographically distanced workforce and customer base, but to be successful requires the right business case, skills, and quality data. You'll get peer advice on methods to build internal talent while using the right amount of external backup to reach project success more quickly.
