Abstract
This IDC Perspective discusses the context for critical sourcing actions needed by government IT organizations to adapt to the pandemic-induced changes. In a short period of time, the COVID-19 pandemic has upended the global economy and changed government agency operational continuity and IT investment priorities. Not surprisingly, this has had a fundamental impact on the technology needed to conduct business in the immediate and near-term future. Accordingly, these changes have placed a huge demand on government IT contracting offices to procure the technologies needed to adapt to the changes.
"By aligning their resources with the changing needs of agency program delivery and shifting mission priorities, government CIOs and their contracting organizations will be in a position to make an immediate positive impact during and after the COVID-19 crisis," says Thom Rubel, adjunct research advisor, IDC's IT Executive Programs.
