Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight looks at the technologies that businesses plan to deploy at their facilities in the next year, as employee health and safety becomes a business imperative, as well as the additional implications of those technologies. Organizations plan to deploy a variety of technologies for health and proximity monitoring and contact tracing in the coming year. In a recent IDC survey of 102 IT and business decision makers in the United States, 60% of respondents indicated that their organizations have plans to bring at least some employees who had been working from home back to their facilities as they recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of course, a large number of workers were never able to work from home.

"Employee health and safety has become a critical component of planning for organizational resiliency," stated Holly Muscolino, research vice president, Content Strategies and the Future of Work at IDC. "Technologies and policies that were previously beyond consideration are now critical to sustaining business viability and continuity."
