Abstract
IDC Innovators are emerging vendors with revenue <$100 million that have demonstrated either a groundbreaking business model or an innovative new technology — or both. This IDC Innovators study profiles five vendors that have capabilities to enable DataOps methods within organizations: Atlan, Bigeye, DataKitchen, Monte Carlo, and Zaloni. One of these vendors wrote the DataOps Manifesto and has been promoting the discipline, two of the vendors are helping define a new category in the market called data observability, while the remaining vendors are focused on improving the collaboration and effectiveness of data teams within governance guardrails.
"DataOps is not DevOps for data, it is not just technology, it is not just methods, and it is not just people. It is a combination of all those things for consistent and continuous delivery of data value. It applies to any data-driven outcome, not focused on data engineering alone, " says Stewart Bond, research director, Data Integration and Intelligence Software research at IDC. "Vendors profiled in this document have solutions to meet the requirements of DataOps teams being driven by the need to improve the efficiency and productivity of 'generation data' users, improve the quality and level of trust in data, and reduce data governance, compliance, and consumption risks."
