Abstract
This IDC Market Share study analyzes the market overview of the Japan IT security products market, which is the sum of the Japan security software market and the Japan security appliances market, for the year 2022. In the said year, external factors such as global economic conditions and political upheaval and war, as well as domestic factors such as the expansion of hybrid work, increased cybersecurity risks. Thus, endpoint security software, network security software, and information and data security software vendors offering endpoint security software, network security software, and information and data security software increased their revenues and advance their position in this market.
In response to changes in the IT environment and increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks, enterprise security tools are growing and the operational burden is only mounting. CIOs and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) are increasingly interested in integrating tools and automating operations in response to growing security budgets. By migrating to tools provided by security platforms such as CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks, which offer security platforms, and Microsoft, which is expanding its solutions around Azure AD and Defender for Endpoint, the number of tools used, and the operational burden can be reduced, and there are high expectations for a better ROI and improved cyber-resiliency. "Although technology advantages such as detection rates, performance, and features are of course important, the management focuses on effective security investments in response to the continuous increase in cyberattacks, shortage of human resources, and security as a business risk. Security vendors need to provide integrated solutions that enable the technologies of these companies to work together, provide visibility into all risks, and facilitate sustainable security operations," says Kenichi Akama, research manager, Infrastructure and Devices, IDC Japan.
