Abstract

This IDC Market Forecast summarizes the results of the Japan AI system market in 2022 and the forecast from 2023 to 2027 based on information collected through interviews and surveys up to early April 2023. The AI systems market in 2022 gains a broadening base of companies engaged in DX and increased use of AI at both the follower and leader levels. As a result, the size of this market grew 35.5% over that of the previous year.

In recent years, the increasing sophistication of the transformer model, productivity improvements in parallel processing such as graphics processing units (GPUs), and cumulative investments in computer resources required for the massive algorithms that improve AI's predictive accuracy have all contributed to AI's technology progress. And the latest AI technologies such as LLM are characterized by the fact that they are provided to general users via an easy-to-use user interface (UI). In parallel, the accessibility of AI technology has lowered the hurdles for entry into the AI systems market of different industries. As a result, the AI systems market has reached a point of maturity in a trend that has continued from the past, but has entered a new phase with the potential for market disruption (transformation) with the emergence of the latest AI technologies.
