Abstract
This IDC study targets service providers providing industrial interconnection platforms products and solutions, and specifically defines business revenue, product functions, group business proportions, and other directions. Since GE launched the Predix platform, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform concept has rapidly emerged globally and spread to China. In the China market, IIoT platforms have been widely disseminated, and related vendors have deployed IIoT platforms and promoted the transformation and upgrading of industrial enterprises through IIoT platforms.
For the selected IIoT platform service providers in this study, IDC evaluates several subdivisions from three aspects — technical products, marketization, and business performance — and assigns different weights. Through interviews with vendors and users, IDC analyzes and scores to determine the relative position of each service provider in the IDC MarketScape, analyzes the characteristics and strategies of vendors, and provides reference for CIOs to carry out platform application model selection.
"The business models of China's IIoT platform vendors vary with different focus on industry expansion and different advantages. At the same time, standardized platform products are becoming a consensus, but the product form is still immature, and application belt platforms will remain the main delivery model. Many platform service providers have not yet made profits and the market will continue to be explored for some time, says Yuri Cui, research manager, Emerging Tech Sector, IDC China.
