Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight unveils pivotal insights derived from IDC's 2024 Asia/Pacific Security Survey conducted in August 2024. The report highlights how Asia/Pacific enterprises are choosing partners for cloud-based security solutions, with distinct preferences emerging for security technology providers over hyperscalers in many regions.
"Enterprises in Asia/Pacific strategically balance the need for specialized security services with the scalability and convenience offered by hyperscalers. Regional preferences significantly influence these choices because different countries prioritize either flexibility or comprehensive services depending on local regulations and enterprise maturity," says Sakshi Grover, Senior Research Manager for Cybersecurity Products and Services, IDC Asia/Pacific. "In Japan, hyperscalers are preferred because of the cultural emphasis on holistic and end-to-end solutions. Meanwhile, countries, such as South Korea, as well as Southeast Asia nations (Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam), also show strong favoritism toward hyperscalers because of their ability to handle large-scale operations and global expertise, but it is not the same everywhere else," she adds.
